Grammy award-winning rocker Melissa Etheridge will perform at the opening ceremonies for WorldPride 2014 set for June 20 in Toronto. The free concert, to be held in Nathan Philips Square, kicks off the 10-day international celebration of LGBT pride.

Gay marriage is currently not legal in the state of Virginia. Richard Bolger, who is a democratic candidate for congress for the 10th congressional district in Virginia, is hoping to change that. Richard believes that same-sex marriage is a constitutional issue where everyone should have equal rights.

Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued an official statement about observing LGBT health awareness week. With the deadline for open enrollment for affordable health care via healthcare.gov, Sebelius put out a statement on March 26 to remind the LGBT community to take action.
