LGBTQ Family and Influencer Summit

May 22 - May 23

The Pride and Joy Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to reduce the rate of suicide and homelessness in the LGBTQ+ community.

As part of that mission, we are hosting the LGBTQ Family and Influencer Summit, May 22nd and 23rd, 2021.

It’s an international virtual summit, bringing together LGBTQ families and content creators from around the world. This is especially needed during this year without pride parades and festivals.

Day 1

The first day is completely devoted to LGBTQ+ Influencers/Content Creators. We are providing a platform for networking, connecting, learning best practices, learning the pitfalls, etc. There are plenty of conferences for podcasters and YouTubers and such but as far as we can tell, none are solely queer-focused.

Our opening keynote is being given by the inimitable Queer Indigo, and then we launch into a whole day of incredible talks by some of the most impactful LGBTQ content creators, including breakout networking sessions. We’ll end the day with a keynote by Morgen Bromel, the CEO of Thurst.

Day 2

The second day is Family Day. This day will create incredible connection and support within our community which has felt so isolated during Covid. We are starting the day with a keynote from Dr. Lynyetta Willis on the intersection of intergenerational trauma and sexuality. Then we have four concurrent tracks:

  1. Gender Identity: in support of the trans and nonbinary experience
  2. Coming Out Early in Life: everything we wish someone had taught us when we were 20
  3. Parents and Community Leaders as Allies: safe space for straight leaders to ask questions and learn
  4. Queer Adulting: dating, weddings (presented by Equally Wed), starting a family, parenting, planning for retirement – all through an LGBTQ lens

The entire Summit is being hosted on a custom, interactive platform that is being built just for us. It’s going to blow our audience’s minds, but also it’s very intuitive and easy to use. Included in the weekend will be queer yoga classes, Spoken Word performances, and even a cabaret featuring the world’s first lesbian podcast musical. We are also doing a private screening of the indie film “Same-Sex Attracted” with its directors on Friday evening prior.
