Names: Jessica L. Howard Jackson and P.R. Howard Jackson

Ages: 50

Professions: Jessica is a Learning & Development Specialist and P.R. is a Biometrics SME

City, State: Washington, D.C.

Date of Wedding: June 2, 2018

The Big Day:
We had the wedding at The Sunset Room By Wolfgang Puck at National Harbor, MD. The theme of our wedding was “Love Has No Limits.”

In five words, we would describe our wedding as the “Best wedding we’ve ever experienced.”

We planned our entire wedding day together. We handled every detail from our save the date message in a bottles to our scroll style wedding invitations to the ambiance to the amazing wedding location. Nothing was random. Each color, decoration, and food choice were purposely chosen.

We have an amazing bond. The unity we shared when chaos was all around us, it never separated us, it drew us closer and closer together as our wedding day approached. P.R.’s entrance was epic – she danced to a three song medley on her way down the aisle and had guests out of their seats dancing, chanting, and celebrating. Jessica had no idea all that went on before she entered.

We were intentional about each and every guest. There were no plus ones or people we didn’t have a personal connection with in attendance. Sharing our love with everyone who supported us was our favorite aspect, there was so much love in the room, and the guests even commented on it.

Overall we were excited to show our guests that same gender loving couples are no different from other couples, showing them that love truly has no limits.

The Firsts:

First meeting: We grew up together. Although we never dated, we attended the same middle school and high school. P.R. was a star athlete on the girls varsity basketball team and Jessica was the team statistician.

After graduating high school we reconnected on August 10, 2015 at the funeral of a classmate who died unexpectedly. Jessica almost didn’t attend the funeral because she had just returned from burying her best friend of 30 years who also died unexpectedly. So essentially a death birthed love.

First date: August 28, 2015 at Eddie V’s in McLean, VA

First kiss: September 2, 2015

When They Knew:
P.R. Howard Jackson: I knew when I reconnected with her at our classmates’ funeral. I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. I saw a complete and gorgeous woman. There is a saying that I’ve heard countless individuals quote, simply, “You will know.” I now understand that phrase because at that moment “I knew.”

Jessica L. Howard Jackson: I was just taken by her the moment she walked in the church door at our classmates’ funeral and I can only explain it as being a spark.

The Proposal:
It was a surprise proposal on P.R.’s birthday on July 10, 2016 at the Old Hickory Steakhouse at the National Harbor. Jessica thought she was taking P.R. to a surprise dinner with her family, instead, Jessica was diverted to the restaurant courtyard for the surprise. The guests were superb secret keepers. Jessica had no clue!

The Ring(s): Jessica’s ring is a pear shaped platinum sapphire cushioned in pavé diamonds. P.R.’s ring is a 18k gold ring with five sapphire stones and diamonds encircled with pavé diamonds.

Honeymoon: Bora Bora

Looking into the Future: We have outgrown our home, and are looking forward to building a home where we can continue to live, love, and create. We love mentoring and want to adopt a child or two. We will continue to explore the world through travel. We have two sweet cats, but P.R. wants to also adopt a dog too.
