We all know the entertainment industry is full of LGBTQ+ talent, but they’re becoming more out and recognized. Today’s Emmy nominations announcement included a nice batch of queer acknowledgement.

Nava Mau becomes the first transgender actor to be nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress Emmy and the second in the acting category after Michaela Jaé Rodriguez won in 2021 for lead actress. Mau is the only out trans nominee.
The show RuPaul’s Drag Race is nominated for Outstanding Reality Competition Program and The Morning Show, which has a sapphic storyline, got a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series. For writing, Richard Gadd (Baby Reindeer) and Ron Nyswaner (Fellow Travelers) are nominated. For directing, Gus Van Sant is nominated for the pilot of Feud: Capote vs. The Swans and Stephen Daldry is nominated for an episode of The Crown.
The Emmy Awards will be presented on September 15. We’re rooting for Team LGBTQ+!
