With a mission so large it includes, “unlocking the mysteries of the universe,” the Smithsonian Institution is a leader in the preservation of art, history, and culture. Smithsonian Institution at large in collaboration with SI GLOBE, the Smithsonian’s LGBTQ staff organization, is working to not only create affinity within the institution, but engage knowledge seekers in queer history and culture.
With a full itinerary and more programs in the works, LGBTQ history and culture will no doubt be included as the Smithsonian furthers its mission and shares knowledge with the world.

Showcasing Darren Waterson’s Filthy Lucre remix of the Smithsonian’s storied Peacock room, Capital Pride and Smithsonian Arthur M. Sackler Gallery’s Asia After Dark will host an entire evening of programming including performances by activist pop rock trio and L Word alums BETTY.

For the first time in over 20 years, Smithsonian GLOBE will be taking part in Capital Pride parade, as well as sharing their upcoming and ongoing programming at the museums.

In collaboration with the National Museum of Africa American History and Culture and Smithsonian Latino Center, Smithsonian will present a screening followed by panel discussion at the historic Baird Auditorium.
