Barney Frank, a retired Democratic Congressman, will be making the opening remarks at a benefit, supporting George Washington University’s LGBT Health Policy & Practice program, where Comedian Margaret Cho will be performing.
The event will be held in Lisner Auditorium and tickets for the intimate performance will range from $55 to $75. VIP tickets, which cost $150, are also available. They include prime seating and a meet-and-greet with Ms. Cho after the performance. All tickets can be purchased from the Lisner box office or online at www.gwutickets.com.
Barney Frank was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Massachusetts from 1981 to 2013. He co-sponsored early gay rights legislation on domestic partner benefits for Federal employees and immigration rights, has been reliably outspoken on LGBT rights his entire career, especially since coming out in 1987, and founded the National Stonewall Democrats in 1998.
In 2013, George Washington University established the innovative LGBT Health Policy & Practice Certificate Program. The year-long graduate-level program in LGBT health offers in-depth training leading to competencies for those who seek to better serve and advocate for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community. Proceeds from the performance will support program activities, curriculum development, and student scholarships.
