Eden Treviño is the co-host of Eden & Jaxx, the first Latinx LGBTQ radio show on FUEGO. On the show, she and her partner Jacqueline Serrano (Jaxx) dive into conversations around exploring sexuality, diversity, and identity in today’s digital culture.
Treviño is also a Digital Producer for Warner Brothers Television and is currently working on the Emmy nominated show, The Real.
The Los Angeles resident is looking forward to the relaunch of Eden & Jaxx this summer from a radio show to a podcast where they will share more about their lived experiences.
Eden’s mission is to continue to support queer storytelling and to find more innovative ways to produce bisexual representation in media. “If I even spare just one queer person of color the struggle of feeling empty or invisible, then it was all worth it,” says Treviño.
1. Describe yourself in a six-word sentence.
A survivor that learned to live.
2. What was the last thing you shared on social media?
The last thing I posted was on Instagram of my Bisexual Latin adventure in Mexico City. Believe it or not, but they have their own WeHo.
3. What do you think is the main challenge facing LGBTQ people in your community?
I find it really challenging to find other openly proud Bisexual men and women of color—especially within the entertainment industry. Bisexuals are constantly faced with an unrealistic expectation to pick a side and therefore become closeted again within the queer community. No Bisexual should ever feel obligated to constantly prove their sexuality to anyone.
4. What is your favorite LGBTQ business where you live?
I absolutely love and support OUT|WarnerBros. They have the best teams organizing LGBTQ events for not just the employees, but for our friends and families too.
5. What advice do you have for people looking to get in the entertainment industry?
Be kind, work hard, and network like your life depends on it. Also, never address a problem with a problem. Always come in with a solution. Always think, “How can this go wrong five different ways?” and mentally have backups prepared.
