Ariana & the Rose is a New York City-based indie electro-pop outfit heading to Washington, DC on June 7. Ariana has gained traction globally thanks to her bulls-eye bounty of pop melodies, synth-saturated beats and power-packed lyrics offering universal messages of love, affection, sexuality and acceptance.
Ariana’s debut single “Heartbeat” reached No. 7 on Britain’s “Music Week” Dance Chart in 2013, while first-quarter 2014’s “In Your Bed” charted at No. 5. In late March, EP Head vs. Heart was simultaneously released worldwide.Fresh off a UK Tour, Ariana & the Rose are gearing up for Summer Pride Season in eight cities throughout the US.
“I describe my music as electro-synthy-dance catharsis,” Ariana offers. “Stories are my calling card, so I want people to relate to the narrative in my lyrics, but also to move to the music. To see an entire audience dancing in unison when I’m onstage is the most amazing thing in the world. You really see that music is the great uniter.”
Ariana is on a mission to make pop girls cool again. “Pop shouldn’t be just a guilty pleasure,” says DiLorenzo. “It can be intelligent, too, and it can have an edge.”
Fashion week has embraced Ariana as well, performing and appearing at over 10 shows in the three week span at New York, London and Paris Fashion shows.
The Guardian’s Paul Lester wrote “[DiLorenzo is] Most likely to: Make Gaga gaga with envy!” in his New Band of the Day critique. Vanity Fair’s George Wayne exclaims “GW has just discovered ‘the next Fiona Apple’…remember the name Ariana and the Rose…!” And Harper’s Bazaar declared her its “Hear This” artist in the February 2014 issue.
Perhaps the greatest vote of confidence, however, comes from the indomitable Sir Paul McCartney, who included DiLorenzo in his most recent music video “Queenie Eye.” DiLorenzo appears alongside such greats as Tom Ford, Sean Penn, Kate Moss, Johnny Depp and Jude Law, among others.
