Countless volunteers and staff have been working behind the scenes to plan one of the largest pride celebrations in the country, Capital Pride. This year’s theme, major events, and sponsors will be announced at the fourth annual Pride Reveal happening on Wednesday, January 20 at 7 p.m. Hosted and presented by SAX Restaurant and Lounge, the Pride Reveal will feature two complimentary cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dessert, and entertainment.

Attendees will be the first among the masses to learn of theme for the 2016 Capital Pride celebration, which will take place from June 1-12 in the nation’s capital.

“The Reveal will feature the announcement of the exciting theme for 2016 and showcase the marquee events of the Capital Pride Alliance and our Pride Partners, spotlight returning and new sponsors, and offer special ticket deals for select 2016 events,” explains Chip Lewis, coordinator and volunteer for Capital Pride. “It will be a night of fun, celebration, entertainment, food and drinks!”

The Capital Pride Alliance continues to include and create events for women. “We work closely with Tagg, LURE, Scandal DC, and Phase 1 to develop and present events by and for women in spaces that are friendly and safe. We want to make sure that all facets of the LGBTA community are represented and included in our events, and we will continue to work with the women’s community to make sure that happens,” says Lewis.

With many women now taking on key leadership roles within the organization, Capital Pride continues to engage women in key decisions and policies.

“Through our Board of Directors, our Production Team, and numerous volunteers, women have a strong and growing presence in Capital Pride Alliance. We have pride in the women who are part of our 2016 team, such as Michelle Benecke, Chelsea Bland, Megan Eimerman, Siobhan Fisher, Meaghan Hearn, Mary Paradise, and Jessie Washington,” adds Lewis.

Pride Reveal tickets are $40 per person in advance and $50 at the door if available. To purchase your tickets or to learn how you can get involved with Capital Pride, visit www.capitalpride.org.
