The Capital Pride entertainment committee has secured the most diverse, entertaining headline performers yet, as Cher Lloyd joins electronic-pop duo Icona Pop and singer Emeli Sandé as the final addition to the Capital Pride stage.
With musical stylings as diverse as the community itself, this world-renowned trio will undoubtedly entertain the over 100,000 festival attendees expected to attend the festival on Sunday, June 9.
“In my opinion this is the best line-up in any pride in the country,” says Steve Henderson, Capital Pride Entertainment Chair. “They said we should step up our game this year, and we did!”
First to hit the main stage will be United Kingdom native Emeli Sandé, who is set to grace the stage at 4 p.m. Her most recent hit, “Next to Me,” has graced top 40 pop charts within the United States and abroad. Next to the line-up, Swedish DJ electro house duo Icona Pop will fill the stage with their fusion of Electro House, Punk and Indie at 6 p.m. The main headliner, Cher Lloyd will close out the performances at 7:30 p.m.
Henderson credits the Capital Pride committee, his co-chairs, and Hot 99.5 for finding “some really good talent.”
Festival attendees can keep the party going in the Capital Pride dance tent. The festival officially closes at 10 p.m.
The 38th annual Capital Pride Festival will take place on Sunday, June 9, along Pennsylvania Avenue, between 3rd and 7th streets. More information on these and other performers can be found at www.capitalpride.org/festival.
