On Saturday, July 30, Capital Pride Alliance, NOVA Pride, and Baltimore Pride have teamed up for the fourth annual Pride Splash & Ride at Six Flags America. The event was created to be a community celebration and a fundraising event for the local Pride organizations.

The Capital Pride Alliance produces one of the largest Pride Celebrations in North America with more than 375,000 attendees in June 2016. They also engage with the community through educational and community events throughout the year. Pride Splash & Ride is just one of many events around Capital Pride Alliance’s “Pride 365”.

With more than 1,000 LGBTQ and ally participants expected, Pride Splash & Ride brings together the community during mid-summer to share with family and friends the Six Flags America experience of roller coasters, water slides, and special Pride programming in a controlled and safe environment.

Exclusively for Pride Splash & Ride participants, Six Flags America will host a Happy Hour from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hurricane’s. The exclusive event will also have a Drag Show at the Showtime Theater, which includes a special performance from Tagg Nation Podcast co-host Chelsea Shorte.

According to the organizers, Six Flags America has a history of supporting the LGBTQ community in the national capital region. “We are thrilled to work with the Capital Pride Alliance, as well as NOVA and Baltimore Pride, to offer a world-class experience filled with fun times for family and friends,” said Roberto Baez, Public Relations Manager of Six Flags America. A portion of all ticket sales will benefit and help advance the missions of Capital Pride, NOVA Pride, and Baltimore Pride, which includes celebrating, motivating, educating, and inspiring the LBGTQ communities of the national capital region, Northern Virginia, and Maryland.

“Along with NOVA Pride and Baltimore Pride, we’re excited to continue to partner with Six Flags America and enjoy great roller coasters and water park rides, in a safe an inclusive environment,” said Ryan Bos, Executive Director of the Capital Pride Alliance. “Six Flags works closely with us to ensure the event is fun and safe for everyone. Their approach to diversity is inspiring, and we’re so glad to share this joint Pride event with our LGBTA brothers and sisters in Virginia, Maryland, and beyond.”

Pride Splash & Ride takes place Saturday, July 30 at Six Flags America located at 13710 Central Avenue, Upper Marlboro, MD. The theme park opens up at 10:30 a.m. with the water park opening at 11 a.m. The festivities will close out with a special Pride After-Party starting at 8 p.m. and ending at midnight.
