Washington, DC: Resist – Skills for Stopping Harassment, Abuse, and Assault

October 23, 2022 @ 6:30 am - 9:00 am PDT

Have you been harassed at work (virtually or in person), on the street, or on public transit? Is a family member intrusive, either with words or physically? Is there anyone you want to set a limit with, but aren’t quite sure how to say it? Do you want to know what to do if you’re ever attacked? You’ll learn your options for these and other situations.

You’ll find the power in your body and mind to practice boundary-setting as the foundation of self-defense, and effective strikes as a last resort.

We’ll cover:

  • Understanding where risks lie (it’s probably not what you think!)
  • The 5 basic elements of assertiveness and boundary-setting
  • Simple physical strikes for the worst-case situation, and more!

Who: Open to everyone age 16 and up. Class size is limited, so register soon!

What: 2.5 hours of interactive learning with practical exercises based on real-life situations. The class is facilitated by Defend Yourself trainers that have a combined 130 years of experience teaching empowerment + self-defense.

Where: Sunday, Oct. 23, 9:30 am–12 noon

When: The Outrage DC – 1811 14th St NW

How: We aim to make this event as inclusive as possible by offering sliding scale tickets.

  • $25 – You’re committed to learning skills to stop harassment, abuse, and assault, and a subsidized ticket allows you to show up!
  • $45 – You’re ready to kick ass and can afford the true cost of a ticket.
  • $65 – You’re going to make boundary-setting and physical strikes your jam and have access to monetary resources to help us share the skills widely

Refund policy: No refunds. If you can’t make it, please send us an email, and we can potentially give you a credit toward another class.
