Heather Mizeur Running for Governor of Maryland

Today, State Delegate Heather Mizeur  (D-Takoma Park) officially announced her run for Governor of Maryland. Mizeur currently lives in Takoma Park, MD with her wife, Deborah. Mizeur would be the first woman governor of Maryland and the first openly gay governor in the country.

“I’m running for governor because I love this state and I see limitless possibilities on what we can accomplish together to create good, well paying jobs, improve our schools, protect our environment, promote our health, and create safe and thriving neighborhoods in every community across Maryland,” says Mizeur.

Over the next months ahead, Mizeur will focus on taking her campaign out in the communities across Maryland. She encourages supporters and community members to join the campaign in repairing schools and playgrounds, restoring natural  preserves, working with children, and cleaning up the neighborhoods.

Mizeur has been a member of the House of Delegates for seven years. She will be challenging Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown and state Attorney General Doug Gansler for the Democratic nomination.

“I know that many Marylanders are ready to join a movement that strengthens this great state—one that honors the work that has been done, and recognizes the challenges ahead, says Mizeur. “We can ensure that Maryland never settles for less than we deserve as a community and as a state.”
