I’d also highly encourage using an end-to-end encryption messaging app like Signal,” says Sam Romeo, a queer activist local to the state of Texas.

“Politicians often enact policies under the guise of protecting children, which disproportionately harm sex workers. Once implemented, these policies, such as changes to the Earn It Act or Section 230, increase censorship and exacerbate the challenges sex workers face. This censorship extends to other marginalized groups, including BIPOC and LGBT+ communities . . . Age verification laws, for instance, are another example that compromises our right to privacy and puts more people at risk. It’s crucial to monitor and oppose policies that promote digital censorship, as they continue to silence the voices of the most vulnerable,” says Miss Mei, Co-Founder of Decrim 305, an organization in Florida’s Miami-Dade County working to decriminalize sex work and provide resources to sex workers in the community.
