Lez Hang Out Podcast Ep. 516: Face Your Queers with Alix Markman

Lez Hang Out w/ Alix Markman

Leigh and Ellie hang out with queer screenwriter Alix Markman to talk about Syfy’s new series Astrid & Lilly Save the World. We have a lot of feelings about Astrid & Lilly and are overjoyed by the positive representation that it provides. Alix informed us that there were women and nonbinary people in nearly every key creative position and we think it shows.

If you grew up obsessed with Buffy, you will love Astrid & Lilly Save the World. This show is so refreshing and is an incredibly important show for everyone to see because it provides a healthy, positive portrayal of characters that are so relatable, yet so rarely seen in mainstream media. For once there are fat characters that get to save the day and kick ass and their weight isn’t treated like a joke or an issue in any way. And if all that wasn’t enough to make you watch, the queer ship of Lilly and Candace will certainly have you tuning in. It is beautiful to watch their relationship evolve and see how much Candace truly adores Lilly.
