On January 30, LUNAFEST will take over the Lincoln Theatre in Washington, D.C. with their women-focused short films. The film festival was established in 2000 by LUNA, the makers of the whole nutrition bar for women. Their goal is to connect women with their stories and their causes through film.
This traveling film festival spotlights the work of a diverse array of talented women filmmakers with intelligent, funny and thought-provoking themes. 100% of all net proceeds will benefit Breast Cancer Fund, an organization dedicated to eliminating the environmental causes of breast cancer. Through education, policy initiatives and other innovative campaigns, the Breast Cancer Fund mobilizes the public to help stop this devastating epidemic affecting 1 in 8 women.
This season’s program consists of nine selected films by, for, and about women. The organizers have selected films which they feel will compel discussion, make you laugh, tug at your heartstrings and motivate you to make a difference in your community. For a full list of films, visit http://www.lunafest.org/the-films.
Tickets for Thursday’s film festival are $25 for general admission and $75 for VIP. The VIP package includes a reception at 6:00 p.m. in the lobby of the Lincoln Theatre with Jeanne Rizzo, CEO of the Breast Cancer Fund. It also includes complimentary wine, Honest Tea and hors d’oeuvres.
