The countdown is on for this year’s Dinah Shore Weekend. In celebration of the annual event, we continue our interview series with this year’s Dinah guests and celebrities. And, Madison Paige is no stranger to the spotlight. For the 23-year-old model turned musician, this will be her first Dinah experience in Palm Springs.
Paige is known for bringing her androgynous style to the modeling world. “I get asked quite frequently how I identify myself,” explains Paige. “I consider myself gender fluid and/or gender-neutral. Some of my friends call me he, she, or they. I still identify as a lesbian. It’s an internal feeling.”
Now, she is introducing her fans and Dinah party goers to her music. She’ll be performing a few songs from her new EP “444”.
1. What are you looking forward to during the Dinah Shore weekend?
Well, obviously for selfish reasons, I’m looking forward to performing in front of this crowd. This particular crowd will understand my music, lyrics, and demeanor. It’s a very comfortable transition for me.
2. Who is your favorite lesbian celebrity?
My little sister, Kennedy Grace. I think she is a celebrity. She is more famous than me! She has a great following on Vine…over 500,000 followers. She is the funniest person I’ve known in my life. Now, people say it must run in our blood. [laughs]. For the past five years, she’s been doing vine videos that have received millions of views.
3. Do you have any regrets in life?
I think my biggest regret is the times I’ve been self-sabotaging. It’s been a learning curve for me, but I’ve been letting the self judgement go.
4. What inspired your new EP?
“444” is the name. People ask what “444” even means. I believe what you give is what you get in return. “444” is a number I’ve seen a lot. Anytime I need assurance, I see that number. It reminds me that I’m in the right space. I looked it up, and it means that you have positive and powerful vibrations around you. It always came up when I was going through something hard. It’s a story from the first track to the end.
5. When you’re not performing or modeling, what do you like to do?
I’m a sucker for motorcycles. I also really like to sit at home because I feel like when your lifestyle revolves around socializing and networking, [sometimes] you just want to roll up a joint, put on your pajamas, and chill.
6. Who or what inspires you?
I actually feel like I get so overwhelmed that everything inspires me and I can’t even get out of bed. My friends laugh at me because I stop and look up at the clouds and become dumbfounded. I say things like, “Do you realize how many details are put into a pencil?” I’m so overstimulated and in awe by the things around me.
