In a few words, how would you describe yourself?
I’m a small town country girl with a humble heart that simply adores life, laughter and love.
Your favorite hangout spots.
My favorite spot is the National Harbor in Maryland. There’s so much energy, good vibes, great food and many things to do. It’s a great place to eat, chill, walk or sight see. It’s also the place where I proposed to my wife.
Favorite guilty pleasure.
On random nights I will get the sweetest cravings. Sometimes I hop in the car just shy of midnight [with my wife] and drive to the nearest Chili’s to indulge in their chocolate chip skillet cookie a la mode.
Favorite quote.
Live in your truth.
Who is your biggest influence? And why?
My aunt Ora and my amazing wife. My Aunt Ora has always taught me to be true to myself, have a relationship with God, and never forget where I come from. She’s the type of aunt that if I call her at midnight in need, she’ll be right at my doorstep. My wife is simply the definition of my other half. She is truly my strength. She continues to drill into me there’s nothing in this world that I cannot do. She is my motivation.
Favorite event.
I love a great concert and performance. I have an undeniable passion for music and I love to sing.
Do you have any regrets in life?
Yes, I regret not living in my truth sooner. I hid myself for some time from a carefree and beautiful world of being proud to love women. For so long, I was afraid that I wouldn’t be loved and accepted for living in my truth by friends and family.
Favorite lesbian celebrity.
Ellen DeGeneres is my all time favorite lesbian celebrity. Simply put…she is the bomb! Ellen has a heart of gold and is a true philanthropist to all people from all walks of life. Her generosity warms my spirit, and I love her infectious humor.
Fun fact.
As a Gemologist and Senior Diamond Advisor at Mervis Diamond Importers, I have a true passion for what I do and love turning people’s dreams into a reality. In my profession, it’s very important to me to connect with people, especially members of the LGBTQ community. We, at Mervis Diamond, strongly believe that love is love.
