Out & About Festival Brings Unique Pride Celebration to the DMV Area

As the meeting point of Virginia, Maryland, and DC, the DMV offers the regional LGBTQ+ community a number of unique Pride events. This weekend, one of the biggest Pride celebrations will take place at Wolf Trap. Out & About—a vibrant one-day, three-stage festival—will offer attendees a chance to spend a sunny Saturday enjoying music, taking in nature, and connecting with their community.

Every year, the festival boasts a diverse lineup of LGBTQ+ artists and allies. This year the iconic Brittany Howard (who served as lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and primary songwriter of Alabama Shakes) will headline Out & About. Other performers to get excited about include indie-pop sensation Jenny Lewis, formerly of Rilo Kiley; soul-pop sibling duo Lawrence; musical force Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth; and queer pop composer Be Steadwell. And that’s only a fraction of the talent performing—there are so many more artists to get to know and bust a move with.

Not only that, as America’s only National Park for the Performing Arts, Wolf Trap offers a stunning venue for the festival. In-between musical sets attendees can play games in the Meadow, relax in the beer garden, snap pics with the amazing flower displays by Merrifield Garden Center, and grab fun bites and beverages.

Out & About takes place this Saturday, June 22 at Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA. Doors open at 2:30 PM, so you can sleep in and catch brunch before jumping into a day full of music and sun. Tickets start at $49, and can be purchased here. Grab your friends, and prepare for a one-of-a-kind Pride celebration.
