North Carolina’s legislature recently passed a law that prevents transgender people from using bathrooms corresponding to the gender with which they identify. The law was passed by the General Assembly and signed by Gov. Pat McCrory.
The House Bill 2 (HB2) — also known as the “bathroom bill” — has incited a state-wide civil liberties battle. Well-known genderqueer and androgynous model Rain Dove is one of many LGBTQ individuals and allies who are speaking up. Rain Dove used a unique way to bring attention to this discriminatory law.
She states on her facebook page: “PLEASE SHARE! This can save lives! DISCOVERY! HB2 IS NO LONGER VALID OR ENFORCEABLE! As of TODAY this minute-this very second that you read this the discriminatory “bathroom” part of the bill can’t be upheld!”
She goes on to breakdown why aspects of the bill should not be “not valid”. You can check out her full write-up here.
