On Wednesday, July 30 a 15-year-old transgender teenager was stabbed on a Green Line Metro train.

Metro Transit Police have arrested 24-year-old Reginald Anthony Klaiber of Greenbelt, Md., for assault with a deadly weapon. Police say he stabbed the victim in the back aboard a train that was approaching the Fort Totten station. The charges might also include penalties related to a hate crime.

Metro riders said the teenager was sitting on the train when the suspect started speaking rudely and asking her why she was wearing a wig. Within moments, witnesses say the 24-year-old stabbed the teen in the back and tried to flee.

The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She is in stable condition.
