The D.C. area community has a chance to be a part of a local film on the big screen. Water, a “DC love story” based on the novel Water in a Broken Glass by Odessa Rose, is currently seeking funding for production, and is scheduled to shoot this August. The film is produced by three female filmmakers: Danielle S. Mooney, Rhaima R. Rice, and Jamelle Williams-Thomas. The creators call the film “this generation’s Love Jones with a twist.”
The film is filled with all the drama you’d expect from a love story, while showing how important it is to be who you are and to follow your heart. It will feature real D.C. locations and local artists as themselves. Producers are seeking $50,000 for principal photography, the majority of which will go toward cast, crew, and equipment.
Water already has an interested distributor in Wolfe Video and is due to release Valentine’s Day weekend, 2016. For more information on the film or to donate to their campaign, click here.
