On Thursday December 28, 2017, police responded to the report of a shooting on the 800 block of Adrian Place SE in Washington, D.C. at approximately 7:21 p.m, according to the police report. Once the fire was extinguished they found an unresponsive body and DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services determined there were “no consistent signs of life.” They identified 23 year-old Kerrice Lewis as the victim.

Lewis, a student, construction worker, granddaughter, and lesbian is survived by family and friends. The Hyattsville, Maryland native is described by her grandfather William Sharpe as a “free spirit” and someone who would “light up the room just by talking and laughing” according to the Huffington Post.

Police are also investigating a connection between Lewis’ murder and the killing of Ronzay Green and Armani Nico Coles in the District earlier that day, says the Washington Post. Coletwo was a friend of Lewis.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.
