Angela Lombardi

Profession: Bar Manager

In a few words, how would you describe yourself?
I am what I am, heh. I value loyalty and let my heart make most of my decisions. I also fancy booze and the ladies.

Your favorite hangout spots?
Phase 1, of course. Since I first walked through its doors in 2002, I knew it would be my home. I have been working there for over 8 years, and the people who work beside me are my family. This bar is home of The DC Kings; The DC Gurly Show; and, of course, Phasefest. Our never-ending quest to provide a safe space for all types of performances in the LGBTQ spectrum couldn’t make me prouder.

Favorite guilty pleasure??Angela2
I guess booze will make an appearance here once again, heh. I also just love, love, love terrible television shows.

Favorite quote?
“Dream as if you’ll live forever; live as if you’ll die today,” by James Dean.

Who is your biggest influence? And why?
At this point in my life, I don’t think I could pick just one person. So many people consistently influence me and drive me to be better. [I’d probably start with] Allen Carroll, the owner of Phase 1. We have our differences at times, but I admire his never-ending quest to give the lesbian community more.

[Another is] Ken Vegas, who I have watched open so many doors and positively influence people’s lives within the community through The DC Kings.

I could go on for days so I will stop there. I will say that most of the people I truly look up to and admire and who influence me are the people right here in the DC LGBTQ community.

Favorite event night?
I have so many it’s hard to narrow down. I just love a reason to party. I would have to say Jello Wrestling or any night The DC Kings grace our stage at Phase 1.

Do you have any regrets in life?
Oh man, if I had a nickel…just kidding…kind of. I have definitely made my fair share of mistakes, but I have learned to learn from them. I think that is the best any of us can ever do.

Favorite lesbian celebrity?
This is always changing, but as of this minute Beth Ditto. She is a rad rock ’n’ roller who always represents the LGBTQ community, and women in general, brilliantly.

Any fun facts or anything else you want our readers to know?
I was on a pretty D-list reality show a couple years back. I will leave it at that.
