Home decor is a way to express your personality and individuality, and what better way to do that than by incorporating LGBTQ inspiration into your design choices? From colors to patterns to furniture, there are many ways to infuse your space with a sense of LGBTQ pride and celebration.

Here are some ideas to get you started.

Colors

We love vibrant colors. They run through our blood as much as they do our iconic multi-colored symbol. Incorporate these colors into your home decor by choosing accent pieces like throw pillows, rugs, or curtains. Many colors, like red, orange, yellow, and green, are trending this year, making it easy to create a vibrant interior with that subtle LGBTQ hints.

Furniture

Furniture can also be a way to infuse your home decor with LGBTQ inspiration. Look for pieces that feature rainbow-colored fabrics or cushions, or choose furniture with a unique shape or design that reflects your sense of style. It might be a beautiful silk bedding set resting on your bed purchased from a discount furniture store with a statement headboard or vibrant green pillows sitting against a dark sofa. You can also repurpose old furniture by painting it with LGBTQ-inspired designs or colors.

Patterns

There are many LGBTQ-inspired patterns to choose from – including the iconic pink triangle, which was used as a symbol of gay pride in the 1970s. You can also incorporate other patterns, like the transgender flag or the bi-pride flag into your decor. These patterns can be used in everything from wallpaper to bedding to throw blankets. As it happens, patterns are a big trend in 2023 – plain, neutral homes are a thing of the past. Interior designers want to see more people play with the tasteful decor that patterns bring without being too overwhelming.

Artwork

Artwork is a great way to incorporate LGBTQ inspiration into your home decor. Look for prints or paintings that feature LGBTQ icons or symbols, or commission a piece of art inspired by your journey. Or, you can even look for divine pieces of vibrant artwork containing some of the colors that symbolize our community – again, it’s a subtle hint for anyone who doesn’t want to go overboard and bring too much color into their home.

Accessories

Sometimes, it’s the minor details that play the most substantial role in interior decor. You don’t need something flashy to make a statement in the home. Add LGBTQ-inspired accessories like candles, vases, or picture frames to your space to create a cohesive theme. You can also display LGBTQ-inspired books or magazines on your coffee table to start conversations with your guests.

By incorporating LGBTQ inspiration into your home decor, you can create a space to feel comfortable. It can become a space that reflects your style and desires while telling a subtle story about your journey. It’s about expression through art, color, decor, and not being afraid to be bold with your interior to reflect your personality. Whether you decide to incorporate subtle nods to LGBTQ culture or go all out with rainbow-colored everything, the possibilities are endless.
