Lesbians Who Tech will be hosting their Rooftop Sunday Funday on August 9 in conjunction with the White House LGBTQ Tech & Innovation Summit.
Lesbians Who Tech is a global community of over 10,000 queer women and the people who love them. Lesbians Who Tech brings together queer women in tech, a group that’s rarely represented in either of the communities of which they are a part: the tech community or the LGBTQ community.
In February 2014, Lesbians Who Tech hosted their first summit in San Francisco bringing out over 800 attendees. Since its inception, Lesbians Who Tech has since established several city chapters across the country, as well as Dublin and Stockholm. They recently were awarded a $165,000 grant from the Arrillaga-Andreessen Foundation. Run by a husband and wife team, the foundation awarded the grant to Lesbians Who Tech with the goal of raising the visibility of sexual orientation and gender identity in the technology world.
This summer, the organization is hosting their first-ever summit in Berlin on August 29, followed by their second summit in New York on October 2.
“It’s been incredible to see the growth of Lesbians Who Tech over the last two years and experience queer women in technology from all over the world find community, says Leanne Pittsford, Founder & CEO of Lesbians Who Tech. “There’s been countless connections, new hires, new friends and increased visibility of queer women in technology.”
Sunday’s casual event will bring out over 100 attendees for drinks and conversation. The Rooftop Sunday Funday event takes place August 9 at The Embassy Row Hotel in Washington, D.C. from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. For more information or to purchase tickets, click here.
