Who is your biggest influence? And why?
My grandmother. I was raised in the South in the ’70s—not the best time to be a Black person. I am biracial and she was dark skinned. When we went out, people would treat her like she was a nanny or maid. She was so regal and always taking the high road. I look back at all she did and all she taught me. I know I would be nothing without her. She is the reason I help others whenever I can.

Do you have any regrets in life?
No. There is always something you could have done differently, but I am where I am supposed to be. No regrets.
