Washington, D.C.’s newest gay bar is hosting a Women’s Sports Mixer. Started by Team DC board member Grace Thompson, the March 15 event is the organization’s fifth women’s mixer.
“I was elected to the Team DC board a little over a year and a half ago. Since then one area I have worked to improve in the community is our women’s outreach and the women’s sports mixers grew out of that mission,” says Thompson.
Attendees do not have to be women athletes. All LGBTQ individuals and allies are welcome to join the fun. Whether you’re interested in playing a sport or already in a league, the sports mixer is an opportunity to learn more about other teams in the D.C. metropolitan area and meet a diverse group of women.
“This event is an opportunity for the women in the sports community to meet up outside of there respective sports and mingle with other women they might not ordinarily meet,” says Thompson. “It is bridging the gap between teams by connecting the women from those member teams together.”
The Women’s Multi-Sports Mixer is March 15 at Uproar DC, 639 Florida Ave. NW, Washington, D.C. 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
