The Big Day: Right now we have so many ideas! We are both winter/Christmas babies with Eboné’s birthday on December 23 and Angell’s birthday on December 26. So, we are leaning towards some sort of winter wedding theme. Not the temperature, but the ambiance. We have already started a notebook with ideas, as well as watching a lot of Four Weddings. Amongst the winter wonderland, the most important thing for us is to make sure we really enjoy our day and revel in the joy of being surrounded by family and friends. The rest will fall into place.
The Firsts:
First meeting: Both of our friends dragged us out to a lounge in Maryland. After being there for an hour, Eboné was ready to go and as she turned around she saw Angell and decided to stay and get to know her. They say everything happens for a reason. We are still thankful that Angell’s friend Ray pressured her to go out that evening.
First date: Our official first date was at Kramer’s in D.C. We enjoyed a delicious brunch and good conversation.
First kiss: September 2008. It was a leap year!
When They Knew: Angell knew the moment Eboné’s corny pick-up line made her laugh. She knew she wanted to laugh like this for the rest of her life. Eboné knew when she realized that Angell was always there when she needed her and never judged her no matter what. That’s when she knew the meaning of unconditional love.
The Proposal: The first week of November we went to St. Lucia with a group of friends. We stayed in a six-bedroom villa with all the works. All of our friends were in on the proposal and helped out with distracting Angell, getting the music prepared, and setting up the candles and ambiance. Eboné was so nervous waiting for Angell to come back in, but when she did, she had no idea what was going on. She was completely surprised. Eboné proposed to Angell on a balcony with a gorgeous view of the island surrounded by candles. And obviously, she said “yes”!
The Ring(s): Angell’s engagement ring is 18k white gold with a black diamond in the center with a halo cluster of white diamonds. She loves it!
Honeymoon: We are still going back and forth whether we want to do Aruba or Hawaii. The jury is still out.
Looking into the Future: We are looking forward to purchasing our home (and maybe having a kid). Most importantly, we want to continue to live happily ever after.
