The Big Day: We’ll have an intimate ceremony at the Justice of the Peace, followed by an exciting reception in Northern Virginia. We look forward to the intimacy of a humble private ceremony, combined with the joy of a larger reception for our amazing family and friends. Our favorite aspect of the reception is dancing the night away with our DJ spinning everything from Sinatra to Pitbull.
We hope our cake is going to truly “wow” our guests. We are cake icing connoisseurs (in our own minds) and tasted dozens before deciding on the winner. We are most excited about introducing our out-of-state family and friends to our locals.
The Firsts:
First meeting: Passing in the halls of C.D. Hylton High School in 1999, and reintroduced in 2009 by mutual friends at Apex in Washington, D.C.
First date: June 30, 2013 in West Palm Beach, Florida where Lauren was celebrating her birthday. (We had been talking via Skype/Facetime for a while since we lived several hundred miles apart).
First kiss: June 30, 2013 in a parking lot of the City Diner after breakfast with Lauren’s parents.
When They Knew: We started dating while Nicole lived in Florida and Lauren in Washington, D.C. We knew once we were both here in D.C. After combining households (plus Lauren’s cat Monkey and Nicole’s dog Taylor), we knew our ‘family’ was meant to be. We have since adopted an adorable baby kitty Hampton from the Washington Animal Rescue League.
The Proposal: Nicole proposed to Lauren on December 18, 2013. Nicole hung Lauren’s engagement ring on a favorite childhood ballerina Christmas ornament hanging on the Christmas tree, and waited for Lauren to find it. Little did Nicole know, Lauren also had bought Nicole a ring, and planned to propose Christmas morning.
The Ring(s): Lauren has a beautiful white gold ring with an emerald cut center stone and pave set diamonds on the band. Nicole has a classic white gold band with channel set diamonds.
Honeymoon: Cruising to the Southern Carribean
Looking into the Future: We plan to relocate to Palm Beach, Florida later this year, as Nicole longs for the warmer climate, and Lauren will be opening a property management company with her mom.
