The Big Day: Kelly and Tashia share a love of all things Halloween. Therefore it is only fitting that they have one big Halloween party for their wedding.
The Firsts:
First meeting: Flashback to four years ago, Tashia and Kelly met in the shoe department at Nordstrom where they almost brawled over a really fierce pair of vintage Adidas. We knew that our impeccable taste in really cool kicks would bring us together.
First date: Since Tashia lost the battle for the shoes, she decided to ask Kelly out for a coffee date right on the spot. It was then that they figured out their mutual love for iced venti skinny mocha lattes. The U-Haul picked us up from Starbucks shortly thereafter. (We’re kidding, sort of.)
First kiss:Kelly had shoulder surgery when her and Tashia first started dating. Using this as a prime excuse for Tashia to come hang out with her and utilize her EMT skills, Kelly convinced Tashia that her shoulder hurt so badly that she needed medical attention. Tashia figured out that Kelly has no game and came along to hang out with her anyway. After a serious horror movie marathon, the rest is history.
When They Knew: We recently gave up life in a D.C. apartment to live on a boat full-time. Not many people can say they live on a boat and one definitely needs some guts to brave the D.C. weather out on the water. But we love it and wouldn’t trade the experience for anything in the world. We think we knew we were forever when we both “took the plunge”, so to speak.
The Proposal: Tashia pulled off the ultimate surprise proposal to Kelly. One night this past summer, Tashia convinced Kelly to watch the sunset on the roof deck of their boat. While Kelly was hanging out, Tashia sent their two dogs up to join them. As they came up the stairs one at a time, each was wearing shirts that said “Will” and “You”. Then Tashia appeared, wearing a shirt that said, “Marry Me” and while holding the ring. She was also armed with a chilled bottle of Veuve Cliquot, which was a good prop to have whether things went south or not.
The Ring(s): Both rings feature diamonds set in platinum from Blue Nile.
Honeymoon: They are trying to decide between an Alaskan Cruise, a trip to the Galapagos, or one of those cool grass huts out on the water in Fiji.
Looking into the Future: They plan to live on their houseboat for the next few years in D.C. Eventually they think they will move back to New England (where Kelly is from).
